ASUB SLASHERS from
Belgium have signed up for the challenge. There's a strong tradition of contact
beach rugby in Benelux with important tournaments held on northern beaches at
Ameland and Ostend. The ASUB Slashers have an interesting CV:
2005 - winners of Flemish Beach Rugby
2006 - winners of Flemish Beach Rugby
2008 - winners of Flemish Beach Rugby
2008 - winners of LBFR Beach Rugby Tour
2009 - 2nd place at Flemish Beach Rugby at Ostend
2009 - winners of Ameland Beach Rugby
2009 - winners of LBFR Beach Rugby Tour
The Maccarrese, flush with their victory at Lignano 2007, managed to interrupt the ASUB Slashers' winning streak at Ostend. But closing one door often opens
another, and these Belgian champs realized that perhaps the southern beaches
have more to offer than just warmer weather.
