PADOVA BEACH - The 2011 Champions are back !

That's right, the reigning 2011 International Super Beach 5's Rugby champions are returning to Golden Sands of Lignano to defend their title in the FORTHCOMING 12th Edition of THE LIGNANO INTERNATIONAL CUP, July 14-15 2012. Victors of the 1st Edition of the Event, way back in 2001, 2011 saw PADOVA BEACH enter the tournament as a Wildcard entry, following the last minute withdrawal of the Welsh squad. And under the hot summer sun, they caught everyone cold and turned over all the forecasts. As 6 times finalists of the Italian National Beach 5's Championships, yet only one time winner, the boys from Padova were shy of victories for a good 9 years until their Inspirational Golden Try win over the Belgian Ghent Magnets delivered the ultimate Super Beach 5's reward. The date of the next Super Beach5s of Lignano will be:
July 14-15, 2012.

We'll select around 12 teams. Each year the winners could be given the preference to participate in the next tournament. The rest of the teams will be selected based on nationality and level, to ensure the best representation and level of game. Winning teams from other tournaments on the EU Tackle Beach Rugby circuit ( see http://www.beachrugby.eu/EBRU101.htm  ) will be given preference. To promote the game in the best light to the audience, we'll be looking for teams that engage the audience, based either on their level of playing, or level of show appeal.
